Thesis (Bachelor- Master or project thesis)
for the topic “Life cycle Cost and Cost Benefit analysis of nutrient recirculation in Aquaculture systems”


The Climaqua project aims to improve the sustainability of global food production by developing concepts for nutrient recycling within Aquaculture systems. But to make an impact, such a system needs to be feasible from an economic point of view. With your thesis at DIL, you will make a contribution by analysing the costs and Benefits of nutrient recirculation along the whole life cycle. Your work will involve analysis of the different cost and benefit factors to demonstrate if and how a system using algae to recirculate nutrients in aquaculture can be economically feasible. You can look forward to diverse and challenging tasks in an international, motivated and supportive team. 

  • Research with regard to Aquaculture
  • Data collection and analysis related to cost factors of aquaculture
  • Cost benefit analysis of recirculating nutrients in aquaculture
  • Assessment of environmental impact using SimaPro
  • Student in the subject area business engineering, economics or similar
  • Competencies in data collection, cost calculation and economic assessment
  • Knowledge in life cycle cost and cost benefit analysis is an asset
  • Independent and self-motivated work style, willingness and ability to perform and work in a team
  • Good Microsoft Office skills
  • Good english in writing and speaking
