Between the 11th of September and the 15th of September 2023, the DIL Summerschool (Our) Future-Meat took place at our Food Science and Technology Campus Artland.
The Summerschool brought students from the various food technology courses closer to the meat industry with its diverse areas.
In addition to exciting lectures on meat technology and meat research, topics such as entrepreneurship, leadership and research careers were also highlighted, which offered the students valuable approaches for their own careers and personal development.
In addition to theory, the students also gained exciting insights into practice. In our meat technology centre, they learned how various sausage products, such as raw sausage, boiled sausage, or bratwurst, are produced. Another part of the programme was a visit to Vemag Maschinenbau GmbH, where the students gained versatile insights into the development of machines and systems for the food industry.
The highlight of the Summer School was the participation in the Forum of the Meat Industry 2023. The first day of the forum started with an exclusive practical tour at the renowned Kalieber GmbH in Lastrup. There they experienced how sausage, meat, ham, and bacon are produced in the traditional way. On the second day of the forum, the students had the unique opportunity to learn more about the different areas of the meat industry from renowned experts.
