Life Cycle Assessment

DIL veröffentlicht neue Forschungsarbeit

Recent years have borne witness to increasing public concern with research into alternative sources of protein for food production.  The DIL (German Institute for Food Technology) has endeavoured for years to develop resource-sparing, sustainable alternatives for meat production, as these are expected to reduce the effects which are known to be significantly damaging in terms of climate.

In order to bridge the gap between the current state of research and economic feasibility in the production of meat alternatives, the DIL has conducted a comparative study and published the research results in the renowned journal, "The International Journal of Life Cycle Assessment".

The study suggests new possibilities for research and production, in that it compares various raw materials with regard to their suitability for mechanised production.
