On August 15, 2024, we had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from the Landwirtschaftskammer Niedersachsen to the DIL Deutsches Institut für Lebensmitteltechnik e. V. Among the participants were the Vice Presidents Manfred Tannen and Dagmar Heyens, as well as the Head of the Agriculture Department, Stefan Ortmann, along with other representatives of the chamber.
The visit began with a welcome by Dr. Volker Heinz, Clemens gr. Macke, and Clemens Hollah, followed by an introduction to the activities and goals of the Landwirtschaftskammer Niedersachsen. The participants then received a comprehensive insight into the research activities at DIL:
Food science at DIL was presented and discussed:

• Krzysztof Mikos addressed the issue of microplastics in food. (funded by NBank)
• Dr. Kashif ur Rehman delivered a lecture on insect technology. (funded by the VolkswagenStiftung)
Following these keynote presentations, a tour of our research facilities took place, led by our experts in the fields of mechanical engineering, automation, biotechnology, food physics, and extrusion.
The day concluded with a summary of the findings and a discussion on possible next steps.
We thank the Landwirtschaftskammer Niedersachsen for their visit and the stimulating discussions. We look forward to further successful collaboration and the exchange of ideas for the advancement of food technology.
