10 years of BIQ – anniversary celebration in Quakenbrück

On Monday, 18 August 2025, the Quakenbrück Business and Innovation Park (BIQ) celebrated its 10th anniversary.

On Monday, 18 August 2025, the Quakenbrück Business and Innovation Park (BIQ) celebrated its 10th anniversary. Since its opening in 2015, the BIQ has been offering female entrepreneurs, start-ups and companies space for innovation, growth and networking – with modern office space, laboratories and production halls.

BIQ was realised as a joint development project between the municipality of Artland, the district of Osnabrück and the German Institute of Food Technology (DIL) and has since become an important location factor for the region. Its close proximity to the DIL has created a dynamic environment in which research, start-ups and business are closely interlinked.

Ceremonial setting and welcoming speeches

The anniversary was accompanied by inspiring speeches from, among others:

• Grant Hendrik Tonne, Lower Saxony Minister for Economic Affairs

• Anna Kebschull, District Administrator of the Osnabrück district

•    Michael Bürgel, Mayor of the Artland Joint Community

•    Lutz Brinkmann, Member of the German Bundestag

•    Franz-Georg Gramann, Managing Director of BIQ

•    Frank Wuller, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BIQ

•    Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stefan Töpfl, Managing Director of Elea

• Dr.-Ing. Volker Heinz, Director of the DIL

Their contributions paid tribute to the success story of BIQ and emphasised the importance of the innovation park for the agricultural and food industry as well as for technological development in the region.

Partners and exhibitors

During the event, current and former tenants and partner companies presented their projects and developments, including Elea, Frudist, HS Tumbler, Bioweg, Thyssenkrupp, LI Food and the DIL Group.

DIL also presented key topics and technologies:

•    DIL Engineering highlighted its cooperation with Elea, including the presentation of PEF technology.

•    In the field of extrusion, the focus was on FiberFlow cooling nozzles – an important component in the production of plant-based and hybrid meat alternatives.

•    In the ‘Proteins of the Future’ technology centre, DIL Technologie GmbH offers companies opportunities for product development, contract manufacturing and testing of innovative processes.

Looking ahead

The anniversary celebration was not only an opportunity to look back, but also to exchange ideas and generate new ones. In a festive atmosphere, contacts were made and prospects for the coming years were discussed.

DIL congratulates BIQ on this milestone and looks forward to further cooperation – for even more innovation, transfer and future technologies in Quakenbrück.
