We are looking for a highly motivated new team member (m/w/x) to join our Food Data Group for a
Thesis (Bachelor- Master or project thesis)
for the topic “Digitalization and modelling modular sustainable food/feed systems “.

 

The global food system is complex, involving many actors exchanging vast amount of information and reflected in its sustainable use of land and water and significant food loss and waste. Digital technologies and modelling have the potential to improve efficiency, equity, nutrition and health and sustainability of food/feed. This Thesis/Internship is part of European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program named: SUSINCHAIN – Sustainable insect chain (https://susinchain.eu/). In your thesis at DIL, you will be able to help this effort by performing life cycle assessment, modelling modular proposed system, data collection and writing automated scripts for data handling and exploration. Analytical and mathematical thinking as well as capability to work in an international team will be necessary to achieve this. In turn, you will be able to experience a diverse range of tasks in a motivated, international team.

Areas of responsibility
  • research with regard to food/feed
  • Data collection, automated scripts and analysis related to feed and food
  • Mathematical modelling of the process
  • Assessment of environmental impact using SimaPro
  • Organizing, documenting and presenting results to the team
Your profile
  • Study of food technology, mathematics, computer science, data science or comparable courses
  • Strong understanding of data handling, exploration and analysis.
  • Competencies in data collection and mathematical modelling
  • Structured way of thinking and well-developed coding (C/ C++/ PHP/ Python), data management (MySQL) and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge in life cycle assessment or machine learning using python is an asset.
  • Independent and self-motivated work style, willingness and ability to perform and work in a team
  • Good Microsoft Office skills
  • Good English in writing and speaking
