With depleting fish stocks and aggravating impacts of climate change, new approaches are needed to ensure food security and sustainability of fish production. The Climaqua project addresses this issue by investigating novel techniques for nutrient recirculation in aquaculture. In your thesis at DIL within the Climaqua project, you will be able to help this effort by performing life cycle assessment of the proposed system. This way you can show if it is indeed possible to reduce climate and other environmental impacts by nutrient recirculation in aquaculture, for instance using algae. Analytical and mathematical thinking as well as capability to work in an international team will be necessary to achieve this. In turn, you will be able to experience a diverse range of tasks in a motivated, international team.
