We are looking for a highly motivated new team member (m/w/x) to join our Food Data Group for a
Thesis (Bachelor- Master or project thesis)
for the topic “Scaling factors of sustainable production chains “.

 

This Master thesis/Internship is part of working package 7 (WP7) of European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program named: SUSINCHAIN – Sustainable insect chain (https://susinchain.eu/). The aim of this project is to contribute to novel protein provision for feed and food in Europe by overcoming the remaining barriers for increasing the economic viability of the insect value chain and opening markets by combining forces in a comprehensive multi-actor consortium. The goal of WP7 is development of multi-objective optimization model suitable for the defining optimal insect production scenarios from sustainability perspective.

Aim of student’s master thesis/internship will be the development of scaling factors applicable for the different aspects of production chains including (but not limited to) scale of production, type of feed, type of processing applied, etc. Furthermore, the verification of the developed factors will be performed by the means of LCA approach.

Areas of responsibility
  • Modelling
  • LCA analysis and interpretation of results
  • Data collection and interpretation
Your profile
  • Studies related to modelling or LCA
  • Prior experience in LCA analysis not necessary, but is consider as advantage
  • Ability to generate models and mathematically represent them is prefferable
  • Good communication skills, teamwork and motivation to work on this topic
  • Good computer literacy
  • Good spoken and written English skills required
  • Good German skill is a plus
