AMBASSADORS FOR BIOECONOMY

UKRAINE, CLIMATE, COVID: IS BIOECONOMY THE CHANCE FOR A CHANGING WORLD?

The war in Ukraine clearly shows the fragile position of our global food supply. Wheat supplies are at risk in the Middle East and Africa. Add to this the climate crisis and Covid-related transportation bottlenecks. What is the role of innovation in the food chain to better manage such crises.

At the Global Food Summit 2022 in Munich, we will address these questions:

Does bioeconomy help with closed nutrient cycles to become less dependent on finite resources? Can food chains be made more resilient through innovation? Can new breeding methods contribute solutions for innovative urban food production?

Discuss with the chief economists of FAO and World Food Programme, ambassadors from Brazil, Peru or Israel as well as start-ups in the field of circular economy. They are all "Ambassadors for Bioeconomy."

Speakers at the Global Food Summit are among others: Dr. Máximo Torero Cullen, Chief Economist and Assistant Director-General, Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), Arif Husain, Chief Economist, UN-World Food Programme and Dr. Volker Heinz, Executive Board of the German Institute of Food Technologies (DIL).
