On 26 June 2024, the employees of the Chemical Analysis department at DIL Deutsches Institut für Lebensmitteltechnik e. V. gathered to bid farewell to a long-time companion on his well-deserved retirement. Norbert Lameyer, whose career at DIL began on 1 April 1991 and who worked for the company for 33 years, was honoured by his colleagues with warm words and heartfelt thanks for his countless contributions. Dr Volker Heinz, Chairman of DIL, took the opportunity to personally bid Norbert farewell and thank him for his many years of commitment.
One of his most outstanding achievements was undoubtedly the development of the Institute's laboratory management system, which formed the backbone of daily laboratory work for many years. Norbert's expertise in food law and labelling issues often proved crucial to the safety and legal compliance of the products that the DIL analysed.
"Norbert was not only a colleague, but also a model of commitment and expertise. His ability to solve complex analytical problems was truly exceptional," mentioned Andreas Juadjur, Head of the Chemical Analysis Department, in his speech.
In addition to his professional dedication, Norbert was known for his sense of humour and his willingness to help, which he demonstrated on a daily basis. His evening tour of the laboratory to ensure that everything was running perfectly was a testament to his commitment to the organisation.
Another of Norbert's multifaceted interests was his love of music, which he always cultivated. His colleagues fondly remember how he regularly visited the local record shop to add to his collection. His passion for motorbike riding was also well known and will now accompany him into his well-deserved retirement.
"Dear Norbert, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your tireless work and your unique contribution to the success of our institute. Your colleagues will miss you, but we are glad to know that you now have time to devote yourself to your passions," emphasised Andreas Juadjur in his farewell speech.
Norbert Lameyer leaves the DIL with a legacy of knowledge and a trace of personal attachment that his colleagues will remember. His retirement marks the end of an era, but his impact on the institute and its staff will resonate for a long time.
