The German Institute of Food Technologies (DIL), Quakenbrück, has successfully concluded some development projects for the growth market Russia. Now the next step is imminent: the contact with GC “EURODON”, Russia’s market leader in turkey meat, established as part of the international networking activities of the research institute have led to a cooperation that will focus on technological issues in meat processing on a long-term basis.
The cooperation between both organizations includes the set-up of a quality management system for EURODON’s complete turkey production and processing business to ensure the production of safe products and to optimize in-house operations. Added to that, the DIL will support the Russian company in the implementation and application of high pressure technology. It is planned to develop together a new production line as well as functional packages suitable for the application of high pressure technology. This is accompanied by further training for the Russian employees provided by the DIL.
The framework agreement on the cooperation in research and development was signed on 18 November 2010 at the international exhibition for animal production EuroTier in Hanover, Germany, in the presence of Ms. Astrid Grotelüschen, Lower Saxony’s Minister for Nutrition, Agriculture, Consumer Protection and Rural Development, and many media representatives. Minister Grotelüschen said: “The signing of the cooperation agreement is a good example on how the multifaceted expertise of the DIL can open up new sales channels for our technology enterprises in Lower Saxony.” During her last visit to the DIL in July 2010, the minister has already emphasized the significance of technological progress and the need for the sustainable development of food safety in a globalized world. This Ministry in Lower Saxony is the responsible department for the DIL. It is accompanying the institute's activities favorably for many years now.
