CORNET - An interesting tool for joint research projects
CORNET is the abbreviation of Collective Research NETworking and stands for the linking of national and regional programs within the joint research activities in Europe. This trans-national project framework is an excellent tool for balancing the structure-related disadvantages of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on European level.
As with the national joint research (AiF projects), only activities at a pre-competitive stage can be supported. The concentration of overlapping research interests is a high motivation for using this tool which also offers a high funding volume (typically 0.5 - 1m Euro). The German part of the project is supported via the Research Group of the German Food Industry (FEI). The responsible funding agencies of the other participating nations will carry the part of their local project partners (typically 1-3 partners).
During the last call for project applications, the DIL in close cooperation with the FEI submitted proposals for two broad initiatives.
